Grand Theft Auto Online is an online multiplayer action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on October 1, 2013, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, on November 18, 2014, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, on April 14, 2015, for Windows, and on March 15, 2022, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One S.
The online component of Grand Theft Auto V is the game. Up to 30 players can play cooperative or competitive gaming sessions in the fictional state of San Andreas, which is modelled after Southern California, in Grand Theft Auto Online.
The open-world design of the game, which is modelled on Los Angeles, allows players to freely explore San Andreas, which has a vast countryside and the made-up metropolis of Los Santos.
Players get control of a customisable, mute protagonist who advances through increasingly difficult tasks on their road to becoming a potent criminal.
Cooperative missions in Grand Theft Auto Online let many players work together to complete tasks and advance the story. Both months before and years after the single-player campaign are referenced in these cooperative missions. The game also has a tonne of side objectives and activities, such the tougher “Heists,” as well as other businesses that players may acquire and run to generate income.
